Hello, I’m your host Kaycinho, I’m a digital alchemist, and today I want to talk about how you can completely change your life around and live it on your own terms.

With that out of the way, let’s talk about how to change your life and live it on your own terms.
So today I’ll share 7 steps that, if understood and applied, could take you from not knowing what to do to actually being in charge of your professional career… on your own terms!
1. How to change your life: What matters to you?
Sounds obvious but you’d be surprised at how many people can’t answer that question.
Now, of course, if you are reading this article I assume that being your own boss and changing your life is what matters to you.
But what I’m saying is: what in your every day life is a pain point that you’d like to address?
In my case, it was the weather. I used to rain almost everyday where I used to live, and the sky had all the shades of gray you could imagine. It may sound ridiculous to you, because maybe that kind of things is not important to you, but to me, it was.
This is something that really mattered to me, because it was affecting my mood. So moving a few thousand kilometers away to a tropical island was one of the best decisions I took in my life.
For you, it may be living by the ocean, in nature, in Asia: you name it! But whatever it is, your goal should be to identify that first, because it will have consequences on what you decide for your business.
For example, if I had remained where I was, even with a successful business, I woul’dnt have been happy.
So, seeking what can make you happy first will be worth it in the long run. With the added benefit that you get to enjoy the transition to being your own boss because you’ve already started working on what matters to you. Even before you are successful.
2. How to change your life: What is your life purpose?
There is a ton of Youtube videos, books and podcasts about finding your life purpose.
Funny enough: in my case, the answer came from a close person that doesn’t really have any experience with entrepreneurship and self-development. I was having an open conversation with her, and at one point I was telling here that I had a few options to start a business, and was hesitating on which one to pursue.
She asked me “If you had a magic wand and could just pick one of these without hesitation, and get to do it for the rest of your life, what would it be?“. And bam. That was it.
So ask yourself this simple question too: you may be surprised!
Now if you aren’t even at that stage and don’t really know what you are passionate about, you first need to spend time with yourself. I’d even say: meditate this once, even if you’ve never done it before. Because it can really help.
If you wonder how to change your life, it starts with listening to your inner voice.
You may have to go for a long walk alone, or maybe run, swim, hike: whatever helps you focus on what you want to achieve in life.
The first time I experience that, I was in the desert. I felt so small and that instantly put things into perspective. I could tell what was important in my life, what was essential and what was superfluous.
I love music but sometimes, even music must be silenced.
Spend time with yourself. Alone. It does wonders.
3. How to change your life: What are you good at?
Once again, this seems obvious, but if you don’t have any skills, you’re going to have a hard time having a successful business.
It may be creative skills, technical skills, commercial skills, marketing skills, and so on.
Truth is: we all have some things we do better than the average population, but it takes work to transform talent into skills.
So identify what you are good at, then get some training to develop it into a skill. And make sure you train for skills that are actually in demand on the market.
And if you have little money, you are luck because we live in a day and age when you can find free training on platforms like Youtube, or cheap training on platforms like Udemy and Lynda.com.
So stop wasting time and start training as soon as you can!
4. How to change your life: What are the opportunities?
Being an entrepreneur is also about spotting opportunities and acting on it.
So for example, let’s say you want to start a web studio in your town, but the competition is fierce because there are already a lot of established web agencies. Unless you can come up with a very unique selling proposition, you may have to change directions, as long as you stay true to yourself of course.
So imagine you noticed that although there are a lot of web agencies, nobody really offers quality video services although video is all the rage on the web.
If you are good at film making, that may be your opportunity! So you may have to act on that opportunity first and make nice profits that will eventually fuel the development of your web studio.
See where I’m getting at?
5. How to change your life: What is your plan?
By plan I actually mean plans: the business plan and the marketing plans.
Don’t worry: I’m not talking about plans with hundreds of page! I’m talking about plans that can respectively fit on one single page.
For the business plan I recommend the “100 dollars startup” by Chris Guillebeau, and for the marketing plan, I recommend “The one page marketing plan” by Allan Dib.
I’ve actually covered those before, so I won’t develop it further here, but you can always read/watch the original episode by clicking here.
6.How to change your life: Stop procrastinating and take action
No matter how many videos you watch, books you read or podcasts you listen to: if you don’t act on it, nothing’s gonna happen!
So, once you’ve read this post, stop the paralysis by anlaysis and start acting.
Lay out your plan, and work on it each and every day.
For example, start with defining your brand name & your brand core values, then your logo, your visual identity and so on.
Do something each day and you’ll be amazed at what you have achieved 3 months from now!
7. How to change your life: Assess, adjust and refine
Once you start getting some feedback it is important to take a step back and look objectively at what is working, and what is not.
You may have started with one direction in mind, but the market may show you they actually want something else from you. And as an entrepreneur you need to constantly assess, adjust and refine your plans.
That does not mean you should abandon after 3 months because it does work as you had hope for. It only means you should have your eyes and ears open and meet the makret demands, if you want to thrive.
How to change your life: Get To Work!
So, I hope that this episode gave you a clear preview to what how life could look completely different a few months from now, if you understand and apply the steps underlined.
